St. Lucia is a tropical eastern Caribbean island that is a popular tourist destination. Its two (2)dramatically tapered mountains, The Pitons, (made from hardened magma) and the volcanic sulphur springs are landmarks to this island.   • Do greet with a handshake and smile formally or a hand raised 'Hi'. Men also greet with a pat on the shoulder. â€‹

  • Do address people with their honorific title(Mr.Mrs.Miss) and their surname.

  • Do greet with appropriate salutation, good morning/afternoon/evening.

  • Do observe formal or informal table manners for the occaison.

  • Do wait to be seated when invited to dinner.

  • Do use utensils always to eat.

  • Do try all food kind as it demonstrates graciousness.

  • Do use third-party introductions to speed up business relations and success 

  • Do be aware that status is respected in Jamaica and people often refer to one in authority as boss/bossman.

  • Do be direct in communication. Jamaicans are not afraid to say what they think.

  • Do be tactful and sensitive however, Jamaicans do n;t like overt aggression. 

  • Do be aware that Jamaicans value logic and linear thinking

  • Do be aware that Jamaicans stand close when conversing.

  • Do expect to spend much time discussing details before a contract is drawn up.

  • Do not impress with much details, brevity is appreiated.

  • Do not give your best offer at business negotiations. It is a custom to bargain and negotiate
